Canadian-born Steven Tai invoked his “dorky-yet-feminine” muse for his spring presentation, held at the Elms Lesters Painting Room, a gallery in Covent Garden.“The Steventai woman is nerdy, awkward and ironic,” he told WWD. “She appreciates humor in clothes and dresses for herself, not others.”
Last season, he created a nostalgic collection of octogenarian wardrobe staples. For spring, Tai’s girl is more refined, but flirty and playful while still preserving her geeky nature. The gangly models, who had all donned round spectacles, were seen standing on wooden swings and gently swaying about in a playground setting.
